Bank of India (New Zealand) Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Bank of India (BOI). It currently has 3 branches around New Zealand.
It is the second Indian bank to make it’s way into the New Zealand marketplace. Making the move in 2011, it was only 2 years behind the Bank of Baroda.
Originally founded over 100 years ago, in 1906, by a group of elite businessmen from Mumbai. It was under complete private control until it was nationalised along with 13 other banks in India. In 1946, it was the first Indian bank to open a branch outside of the country, in London.
From there, it has grown tremendously throughout the world. Spanning 20 countries across 5 continents.
