Kiwibank is one of the largest banks in NZ, a subsidiary of the state-owned New Zealand Post Limited.
Kiwibank is one of the fastest growing banks in New Zealand at the moment. Relatively new as well, registered for a banking license only recently at the end of 2001, and commencing business in 2002.
One of the main reasons they were able to do so was their ingenious way of setting up shop in hundreds of different locations without the extreme costs associated. By cutting a deal with the Postshops, literally overnight, they were in more locations than any other bank in New Zealand.
Over the next 10 years, Kiwibank has grown to service more than 800,000 customers and have over 1000 Kiwis under their employment.
Their name basically says it all. They are 100% owned by New Zealanders. “We’re a bank made for New Zealanders, by New Zealanders”.
